How this calculator works
Pitch-rate planning estimates how many yeast cells a batch needs, how many viable cells you have and whether a starter should make up the gap.
The tool considers batch volume, wort strength, selected pitch rate, pack cell count, yeast viability and starter method.
Starter mode estimates the growth from the starter size and starting cell count, then shows whether the target is covered.
Worth knowing
- Lower viability for older liquid yeast packs so the starter plan is realistic.
- Use overbuild when you want to save clean yeast for a future brew.
